LOL. But seriously, have any of you guys who've already installed systems had any trouble with hail? Are they tough enough to withstand an average storm?

I installed mine last December and no problems with the hail this year.

I'm acquainted with someone who installed solar panels a couple of years ago; if I remember, I'll ask him the next time I see him. He said he does OG&E's Smart Hours (or whatever it's called); he switches from the grid to his panels and batteries during the high-cost hours, and has had some absurdly low bills as a result.

I don't really see getting payback for a really long time. But with the coming EPA mandates the utilities are going to have to jack rates, so that time frame will likely get shorter.
