Well it was not my name but a buddies name and he gets cards in the mail all the time wanting to buy his house that he has never seen.

I get those on houses I have that are paid for free and clear.
I wonder what can be done.
Can he go to that house and take it over ?? Can he legally sell it since it is in his name?

The census called him asking him if he lives there ..It is in another state.
Thinking of taking a road trip with him to look at it and go to the county court house and see what gives.

You guys ever have something like this happen.
He lives near central and se22 st and has lost his wallet many times and thinks the drug cartell stole his identity and so no and so on.

Movie rights?
Should be interesting.

I would go to the county court house and check it out. Then while I was there I would also have a visit with the district attorney's office and ask his advice on the matter.

Uh, the DA will look at you like you have two heads if you go asking him/her/their office about a real estate conveyance recording. Perhaps talk to the clerk of the court that it would be filed with. Even if something is recorded, since it's not a bonafide sale, it would be voidable. -Not legal advice. :)

Moving away from S. 22nd and Central is priority #1

You would think so.
He has been there over 20 years and it really is not that bad.
Few bad seeds in the area but his close neighbors are all cool.
You get to know just about all the regulars in the area and earn respect and they have respect for him even the gang bangers in the area have respect for him.

They tagged his fence after he told them not to.
One gang banger spelled his own name on my buddies fence and my buddy wrote after the name sucks D****

The other gang bangers got a laugh out of it and teased the guy.
HA HA!

On a lighter note one young black boy about 13 years old asked my buddy if he would loan him a lawn mower to mow a couple yards he had lined out to mow for money.
My buddy and i always have plenty of push mowers around and he sold the kid a mower for 20 or 25 bucks.

I was there a couple weeks later and the kid had come back he had paid already and needed help fixing the mower.
We got it lined out for him and down the street he went to earn more money mowing yards.

There are good kids out there it is just the bad ones make it all look horrible when it really isn't all that bad.

I had more issues with people here in Yukon than I ever had in Spencer.
Seems Yukon kids seem entitled and Spencer kids know they will get a whoopin or shot if they mess up.

Most counties have online access to property records, might try that first and sometimes you can get a view of property on google maps. Lot less expensive to start maybe. We get at least one postcard or letter every day wanting to buy one of our properties, started saving them about a month ago, not sure what I'm going to do with them. Maybe sign them up for magazines??

Yea I don't know what's up with the letters and cards. I saved a bunch I got about a house and we decided to sell cause it was on the other side of Tulsa away from all our others. So I responded to the letters (about 8 or 10). Not a single one of them came forth and asked to look at it or make an offer. Sold the house thru a realtor in just a few days after listing it though.

Could be as simple as someone with the same name. He needs to find out if his actual identity has been stolen.

A simple free credit check will confirm whether or not they took out a loan with his identity. Then, like others said, checking the deed to see what's up.
