Peaceful protests, walkouts, votes of no confidence by faculty?

They'll get the education they deserve...just like we get the government we deserve.

Perhaps we need to differentiate the various protest activities - many of the protest actions are not peaceful student protests. There have now been several incidents of reporters being harassed or even assaulted. In addition, some of the key trigger events have been distorted in the news or possibly staged. If the only things going on were as you describe, we wouldn't have any disagreement.

Please cite a single documented incident of violence directly related to the Mizzou protests, perpetrated by Mizzou activists or students...

(Shoving a reporter who is willingly/knowingly trying to break through a line of protesters doesn't count as violence unless you're a pu$$y. The Tea Party protests were an all out blood bath if you apply the same standards).

Bias? Nope. Ignorance? Yes, probably, because I wasn't there. Where you? Honestly, why and how is he responsible for these instances?

I believe they never claimed he was responsible, but that his handling of it was poor and their confidence in his ability to handle it in the future was low. How is that unreasonable?

Hell if they didn't.! Have you read their list of "Demands".

Demand #1, they wanted him to apologize for being White and "gross negligence".

I. We demand that the University of Missouri System President, Tim Wolfe, writes a handwritten apology to the Concerned Student 1-*9-*5-0 demonstrators and holds a press conference in the Mizzou Student Center reading the letter. In the letter and at the press conference, Tim Wolfe must acknowledge his white male privilege, recognize that systems of oppression exist, and provide a verbal commitment to fulfilling Concerned Student 1-9-5-*0 demands. We want Tim Wolfe to admit to his gross negligence, allowing his driver to hit one of the demonstrators, consenting to the physical violence of bystanders, and lastly refusing to intervene when Columbia Police Department used excessive force with demonstrators.

II. We demand the immediate removal of Tim Wolfe as UM system president. After his removal a new amendment to UM system policies must be established to have all future UM system president and Chancellor positions be selected by a collective of students, staff, and faculty of diverse backgrounds.

III. We demand that the University of Missouri meets the Legion of Black Collegians' demands that were presented in 1969 for the betterment of the black community.

IV. We demand that the University of Missouri creates and enforces comprehensive racial awareness and inclusion curriculum throughout all campus departments and units, mandatory for all students, faculty, staff, and administration. This curriculum must be vetted, maintained, and overseen by a board comprised of students, staff, and faculty of color.

V. We demand that by the academic year 2017-2018, the University of Missouri increases the percentage of black faculty and staff campus-wide to 10%.

VI. We demand that the University of Missouri composes a strategic 10 year plan by May 1, 2016 that will increase retention rates for marginalized students, sustain diversity curriculum and training, and promote a more safe and inclusive campus.

VII. We demand that the University of Missouri increases funding and resources for the University of Missouri Counseling Center for the purpose of hiring additional mental health professionals -- particularly those of color, boosting mental health outreach and programming across campus, increasing campus-*wide awareness and visibility of the counseling center, and reducing lengthy wait times for prospective clients.

VIII. We demand that the University of Missouri increases funding, resources, and personnel for the social justices centers on campus for the purpose of hiring additional professionals, particularly those of color, boosting outreach and programming across campus, and increasing campus-*wide awareness and visibility.

Again, what is he supposed to do? Now if this was proven to be a frat or other school group, I get it completely, as they should be dealt with. But random acts? Release a general statement so people feel good? Now if the dude does something racist or invokes some sort of policy I'm unware of I'll listen. But I'm still lost here.

From what I heard today, the grad students were unhappy they lost their free healthcare. You can thank Obamacare for that one though. They just placed their anger against the president of the university. I will wager, this school will either be gone or down to nothing within 3 years.

These institutions that push this PC BS are now coming under the same illogical scrutiny that started with the non-institutions. Good riddance if they live by PC they can wither away and die by PC.

My daughter is a freshman at a different state universities and she has had to write papers on "white privilege", 2 papers on "accepting and promoting homosexuality", and the last "why I am not a Christian". The students could not share their beliefs or opinions on the subjects, they had to read this trash and write the paper.

What classes are they for ?

Deerwhacker, I don't disagree. Their demands are nutty, even in the face of verified racism (even confirmed by outgoing admin).

My point all along was that disagreement with their cause doesn't/shouldnt equal disagreement with their methodology and their right to pursue their cause. This was in response to Hoddy's general statement that these uppity students need to realize that the administrator runs the school and they should just sit down and shut up.

Integrity of argument is all I seek....listening to people who normally rant about "damn the man" and "the people need to rise up" and "respect me or hear me roar" when it comes the their pet issues turn into "these kids need to respect authority" is comical and hypocritical. I'm guilty of it myself in the past...glass houses.

What you have in Mizzou is a very small group of people, possible less than a handful who have a beef with the school. There is no cause, these "students" are being used by a few people to achieve what they want, payback, and the students are too stupid to realize it.! Most of these students would cut their own throats if somebody convinced them there was some type of social justice involved in the act.

As far as I'm concerned, there is no issue. So somebody called someone a racist slur. So what.? Welcome to the real world.

The Admin realizes the quickest and easiest way to quell this uprising is caving into the protesters demands. If the football team missed its game, $$ would be lost and Mizzou would be put in the public eye. You can rest assured the President is stepping down to bigger and better ($$$$$) things having stepped down so easily.

Have to say, I'm in agreement with Hoddy. If the students get upset because the cafeteria refuses to offer Ketchup packets, should the President resign for not listening to the will of the people.? That's basically where we're at. No laws have been broken. Nobody's civil rights have been violated, this is just absurd.
