Vintage vehicles will be exhibited at State Fair Park this weekend in Oklahoma City

In years past, the event in Oklahoma City has had participants come from Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Arkansas and Colorado, Rowlett said.
The neat part about the event, as far as the participants are concerned, is that youll have doctors, youll have lawyers, youll have police officers, nurses, all different walks of life, but for this one weekend theyll trade in their official attire, put on their jeans and bring their cars out and just enjoy their weekend, Rowlett said.
A street rod is defined as a pre-1949 vehicle that is modified for todays highways, but several years ago, the National Street Rod Association opened the event up to vehicles at least 30 years old. That includes classic cars from the 1950s and 1960s and muscle cars from the 1960s and 1970s, Rowlett said.
Most of the vehicles in the show are now equipped with options such as air conditioning, cruise control and tilt steering wheels.
Everyone at some point in time had a first car or everyone at some point in time had a car they wished they could have had, and the participants have the opportunity to go back and find those vehicles and make them a part of their life now, Rowlett said.
Anyone with a vehicle 30 years or older can register to participate in the event from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Crowne Plaza, 2945 Northwest Expressway.
The show is 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, and 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $15 for adults and $6 for children ages 6 to 12. Children younger than 6 are admitted free. Senior citizens and active duty military receive a $2 discount.
