Spencer Police Chief in D.C. supporting gun registration and ban on "assault weapons

Is the chief elected or appointed? I thought they were appointed by the mayor or city council.
When you swear an oath to support and defend the constitution, you don't get to cherry pick what parts you support and defend!
I had the same thought. If he is appointed, then it's time to address the issue with the city council. If the council agrees with what the chief says, then it's time to address the council. Every elected official needs to be mindful of the power of the voters, and every officer needs to be mindful of their oath and not play politics.
If the officers feel that gun control equals safer streets, then they need to be educated.
In spencer they have a mayor and council. The only city employee of the council is the city manager. The city manager appoints the police chief and ONLY the city manager can remove the Police chief.

Norman's chief also said that he did NOT support the bans. He was only there to talk about adding Oklahoma's mental records to the database so they'd show up in NICS checks.
