Suspect In Chelsea, Seaside Park Explosions In Custody, Linden Police Say
Ahmad Khan Rahami, 28, Was Wanted For Questioning In Both Incidents
September 19, 2016 12:55 PM

A man wanted for questioning in the bombings that rocked Chelsea and Seaside Park, New Jersey was captured Monday after being wounded in a gun battle with police that erupted when he was discovered sleeping in the doorway of a bar, authorities said.

The arrest came just hours after the FBI, NYPD and New Jersey State Police issued bulletins and photos of Ahmad Khan Rahami, a 28-year-old naturalized U.S. citizen from Afghanistan with an address in Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Linden Mayor Derek Armstead said that late Monday morning, the owner of a bar reported someone asleep in his doorway. A police officer went to investigate and recognized the man as Rahami, police and the mayor said.

“The suspect pulled out a gun and fired at the officer and striking him in the abdomen,” Capt. James Sarnicki with Linden police told CBS2. “The gentlemen got up and started walking down the street in a westerly direction. I’m told that he was randomly discharging his handgun and one of the officers was able to get close enough to him and return fire.”

Sarnicki said Rahami was shot several times. The suspect is said to be alert, but his condition is not known. He has since been taken to the hospital.

The officer who was shot was wearing a protective vest and was not seriously hurt. Another officer may have been hurt in the face and a third was suffering from high blood pressure, Sarnicki said.

Manhattan Bombs Provide Trove of Clues; F.B.I. Questions 5 People
SEPT. 18, 2016

Tests showed that the explosive material in the 23rd Street bomb was similar to a commercially available compound called Tannerite, according to two law enforcement officials. It was unclear why Mr. Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio dismissed with such certainty a tie to international terror. Experts said the bomb’s construction offered conflicting clues.

Tannerite is made by combining ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder, is frequently used in exploding targets at firearms ranges and has rarely been used in improvised explosive devices in the United States. But the materials are easy to buy in this country because each one on its own is not an explosive.

At the same time, pressure cookers have been a container of choice for many improvised explosive devices over the years. They were used in the deadly Boston Marathon bombings in 2013 based on a model in publications put out by Al Qaeda’s affiliate in Yemen.

The Latest: Somali father IDs son as Minnesota mall attacker

analytics_apnewsregistry_com_analytics_v2_image_svc_AP_RWS_hos4ef30b6ec2f080d096c8e463c19a7057.gif

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) -- The Latest on the stabbing of eight people at a central Minnesota shopping mall (all times local):

3:30 p.m.

The father of the man who stabbed nine people at a central Minnesota mall has identified him as a 22-year-old college student.

Ahmed Adan told the Star Tribune of Minneapolis that police told him Saturday night that his son, Dahir A. Adan, died at Crossroads Center mall in St. Cloud.

He says police didn't mention the attack on the mall, but they seized photos and other materials from the family's apartment.

Authorities haven't publicly identified the attacker. They say the attacker stabbed nine people Saturday night before an off-duty police officer shot and killed him. None of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries.

Ahmed Adan, who is Somali, says his son came to the U.S. 15 years ago and was was a student at St. Cloud Technical and Community College. He told the Star Tribune he had "no suspicion" that his son might have been involved in terrorist activity.

The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

1:10 p.m.

An FBI official says investigators are viewing an attack at a Minnesota mall in which a man stabbed nine people as a possible act of terrorism.

FBI Special Agent-in-Charge Rick Thornton said Sunday that authorities are digging into the suspect's background to determine his possible motivation for Saturday night's attack at the Crossroads Center mall in St. Cloud.

St. Cloud's mayor and police chief praised the swift actions of an off-duty, part-time Avon police officer for shooting and killing the attacker. They identified him as Officer Jason Falconer.

Mayor David Kleis says there were nine people who were hurt, not eight, as authorities previously reported. He says the ninth person took themselves to a hospital and was treated and released. Three of the victims remain hospitalized with injuries that aren't considered life-threatening.

---

11:50 a.m.

Three college freshmen who were shopping at a Minnesota mall when a man stabbed eight people say they saw two bloodied men stumble from a hallway.

Sydney Weires (weerz) says she was at Crossroads Center mall with two friends Saturday night when they heard a scream. She says she saw a man who looked like a security guard sprint down a hallway, and then two men stumbled out.

She says one had blood on his face, and the other had blood on his back. The men screamed to get out of the mall because someone had a knife.

Weires says she and her friends ran out of the mall.

Authorities say all of the injured are expected to survive. They say the suspect was dressed in a private security uniform and reportedly made references to Allah.

An off-duty police officer shot and killed him.

And that's ALL you're going to hear out of the liberal mainstream media. However, Jason Falconer is MUCH more than just an off duty part-time police officer.

USPSA Shooter, 3-Gunner, and NRA-certified firearms instructor Jason Falconer has been identified as the man who shot and killed a 22-year-old Somali immigrant who went on a stabbing rampage inside a St. Cloud, (MN) Mall on Saturday.

The apparent terrorist—who apparently asked victims if they were Muslims before stabbing them—was engaged by Falconer inside the mall.

Falconer is the president and owner of Tactical Advantage LLC, a shooting range and tactical training facility with a strong focus on arming concealed carriers. He’s also a former chief of the Albany (MN) police department, and he remains a part-time officer.

But Falconer has consistently been identified in the mainstream media only as a “former police chief” and “off-duty police officer.”

Yep. They have no problem at all blasting his name out on the world wide web making him a target, but they can't let a damn thing get in the way of their agenda. :pissed:

I hate to see folks on our side participating in this too. I guess if he's okay with it, but I'd be pissed myself. The public doesn't need to know every little detail, "an off duty cop who happened to be a firearms instructor" would have sufficed just fine.

on the positive side Jason Falconer just receive national attention/advertising worth $$$ millions. after effects of this event should keep him busy for years to come. what better way to prove training time pays off!

Tactical Advantage, LLC:

=======

the final confrontation could be seen on video from the Macy’s store. Describing the video, which did not have audio, Kleis said the suspect clearly had a knife in hand, and lunged at Falconer, who fired at him. The suspect fell, then got back up three times before the fatal shot.

Imagine the media furor if a Christian did what this guy did and asked people if they were Muslim! There would be no suppression of the news and it would give rise to an enormous, sanctioned uprising against Christians.

Sikh man who found bombing suspect: 'I did what every American would have done'
September 20, 2016

i2.cdn.turner.com_cnnnext_dam_assets_160920100953_harinder_bai0a92ae04499cf8fc69af75fdc789cf13.jpg

What Harinder Bains did isn't unusual: He saw something suspicious and called police.

But who Harinder Bains is makes this story special.
Bains is the bar owner who led police to Ahmad Rahami, the suspect in the New York and New Jersey blasts.
While officials haven't pinned an exact motive to the Afghanistan-born Rahami's act, a handwritten note is said to have contained ramblings, including references to previous terrorists, such as the Boston Marathon bombers.
That's what makes Bains actions remarkable.
Bains is a Sikh American. And every time an attack has been carried out by an Islamic extremist, Sikhs -- mistaken for Muslims because of their turbans and beards -- have borne the backlash. And 15 years after 9/11, Sikhs don't feel any safer. The hate spewed toward them, as immigrants, has only spiked because of the xenophobic tenor in some quarters these days.
Which brings us to Bains - a Sikh man, an immigrant -- who had a hand in stopping a suspect -- another immigrant -- from getting away with a crime.
