Steam tractors are cool

I'm at a little tractor show waiting for the steam tractor spark show at dusk.

For reference for anybkdy who hasnt seen one in person, I'm 6'6" and that back wheel is taller than I am.

Amish in PA had those. BIG ones...they would like them up to plant the tobacco.

You ever smell a just picked tobacco flower?

It's getting close to show time I think. Looks like they're out at the steam tractor about to fire it up.

My dad and I used to go to the Steam engine show in Pawnee, OK nearly every year. It was the kind of show that took all day and part of the next to see it all.

They had the Case incline demonstration, a saw mill run by belt from a steam engine, working treshing machines, 100s of tractors of all types from steam to oil to kerosne, diesel and gasoline and more. There were engines and tractors ranging primarily from the 1800s to the 1960s and few more modern ones thrown in.

It was always a good time.

I guess those newfangled labor saving devices could speed up a lot of work.

Pawnee Ok has a big one every year. We used to show Tractors there. I seen a Steam Tractor pull a Cat D10 Dozer backwards, I lost a $100 bet. They are heavy and stout!

Make it up to SD and see the Case 150 sometime, it's an awesome steamer. I got to see it but didn't see it working. Massive machine.
