Followed Jesse Tischauser's advice and got a 26" M3000 for $437 to build a 3-gun shotgun. ($474 taxed)
A friend (Sparky2) made me an enlarged stainless steel safety and bolt release. ($30)
Nordic Components doesn't make a nut that fits the Stoeger but MOA Precision does. So now it has a +6 NC with MOA's custom nut. ($84 shipped)
I ground the loading port myself.
Only upgrade left is a NC teflon-coated follower.
So under $600 for a Turkish Benelli with an inertia action that is 3-gun ready.

Let me know if you have any reliability issues.

Do those things tend to jam more with harder/heavier loads or lighter/target loads?

That would be a bad mamma jamma to keep as a home defense shotgun.

That recoil system tends to favor full power loads. The goal of the comp shooters is to get them running 100% with low recoil loads that save time and increase hit factors on the clock.

Stoeger recommends nothing lighter than 1oz of shot, 3 drams of powder...Walmart stuff is heavier than that.
My limited experience and that of people on BoomerShooter and Enos' forum say that the M3000 that is oiled has no issues with light target loads. The M3500, however, since it can also shoot 3 1/2 shells, does have issues with light loads.

Did you try a Nordic Benelli Nova nut on it? It will fit all new production Stoeger m3ks, no need for a different nut.
All the Stoegers that Ive laid hands on will eat 2 3/4dr 1 1/8oz federal shot.

I did not. Over on Enos forum they tried pinning the Nova nut capability w/o modification to a certain serial number range and couldn't. I bought mine recently but that doesn't mean its new production. This custom nut and kit was only about $5 more (counting shipping) than the Nova NC kit from Midway and I am guaranteed a fit without any cutting and sanding of threads. I thought it was worth it...
I'm curious and not asking to be a douche, but how do you know that Nova nuts fit ALL new M3000s?

Functioned flawlessly at Sunday's 3-gun. The only hiccup was when a side saddle stopped ejection for two shots, but that's not the gun's fault.
So about 400 rounds in and nothing but happiness.
It also shot slugs like a champ.
