My Franchi 48/A Hunter started suffering from light strikes on primers, so I ordered a new hammer spring from Numrich. It seems a simple matter to remove the elevator, knock out the hammer pivot pin and then replace the spring and reassemble.

However, I can't get the hammer pin out. I've tried wd-40 and tapping on both sides with a punch and hammer and the thing won't move. Am I missing something here? Does it matter which side the hammer pin comes out? Is there some special tool for getting these out? Or, should I just try a little harder? Thanks.

Soak it in penetrating oil
without seeing the pin I can't remember for sure, but I'd guess you just need to knock it out. A bench block helps to support the trigger assembly.

Thanks, Mike. The WD-40 finally kicked in and the pin came out. Now, getting it back together is turning into equally as big a pain in tail. X-ray vision and three hands would be handy about now.
