Veterans to receive special OK driver's licenses

To Oklahoma Service Organizations: (from an E-mail message)

Per the Oklahoma Department of Public Safety, the pilot test on Oklahoma
Driver's License bearing Veterans Identification went extremely well last
week. The Department did a pilot test in Edmond. The first and foremost
issue is that veterans did not know it was happening, so did not bring their
veteran status verification with them. Some however came back to be able to
acquire the ID.

The official start is 1 November for statewide distribution. We will need
your assistance in sharing that information with as many veterans as we can
reach so that they DON'T HAVE TO MAKE TWO TRIPS to get their license. The
DPS and I are planning a press release, but we also need some additional
help to reach all veterans. The Atkinson Public Relations Firm has
volunteered their expertise to help us with a Public Service Campaign to
prepare our veterans who would like to access their new ability.

I also want to ask for your assistance to help us share with all our
veterans that as these verifications of veterans comes on line that we hit
EVERY BUSINESS and EVERY SERVICE in the state to ask them to provide a
discount or service to any veteran that can, with validity, prove they are a
veteran. We at ODVA, as well as, VeteranCentral.com, have offered to post
those participating businesses that are VETERAN FRIENDLY on our website. You
know the old saying, if "you support us, we will come".

I would welcome any and all efforts to notify all veterans in the state of
this great new opportunity and encourage them to ask all businesses in the
state to show their VETERAN FRIENDLY status.

oh Great, whats the ID going to say, "DHS Probable Domestic Terrorist Drivers License"?

A better way for the establishment to keep tabs on possible "homegrown terrorists", under the guise of " get discounts with this ID!!"

What a farce.

I can see it now at the military checkpoints....

NWO: "May I see your DL please"
VET: "Yes sir... here you go"
NWO: oh, a vet huh?
VET: Yes Sir, I spent two tours over in....(gets cut off by NWO goon)
NWO: You have any weapons sir?
VET: No sir,
NWO: we are going to need to check, sir, please pull over to secondary area#1.
VET: but why I (gets cut off by goon AGAIN)
NWO: Are you questioning me? (RADIOS IN THE OTHER GOONS)
NWO: I have a war vet here, possible combative, need assistance.

Why would you want an ID that labes you a vet, when the DHS warns in the MIAC report (amongst others) that returning
vets could be a danger to society as a dometic terrorist, or "lone wolf" threat.

If I were a Vet, I'd tell them to kiss my a$$, all my stores I frequent already give me a discount.

Isn't being identifiable as having been associated with the US armed forces not a good idea if you plan on being a tourist in foreign countries? Just curious since I am not military or ex military.

Well for all the paranoid people out there read on:

“We’re also pleased to announce that changes in the system and card, will allow Oklahoma veterans to identify themselves right on their license by choosing to have a special veteran’s insignia added to the card.

This option will be available after November 1, 2012 and was implemented as a manner in which to honor the men and women who have served our country,” Thompson said.

Nothing states it is mandatory so YOU don’t have to get it added if you do not wish to?
