Isn't being identifiable as having been associated with the US armed forces not a good idea if you plan on being a tourist in foreign countries? Just curious since I am not military or ex military.

Never had to show a DL overseas (but I never rented a car). Have you?

Don't know haven't been yet. I would assume to rent a car in Germany I would have to show a license.

Maybe in a few years I'll let you know.

Nothing states it is mandatory so YOU don’t have to get it added if you do not wish to?

No apologies are necessary There are a lot of older and younger vets that this can help with down the road especially if business’s or the state for that matter give discounts to veterans. They will have the proof as an option now on the drivers license instead of having to show multiple Id’s or a DD214 for that matter.

I myself carry 4 ID's on me now, my driver’s license, VA Card, retired military ID and my Govt. Contractor ID.
