Here’s a cool spot for a very good and not-so-run -of-the-mill Sunday Brunch:

Chae, Modern Korean, at NW 23 and Penn. I could eat this stuff all day!

So what did you order? Please tell me you tried the DMZ Waffle because that just fascinates me.

Had the Mandoo to start, wife had the Short Rib Benedict and I wallowed in the caloric goodness of ... yes! The DMZ Waffle. It was very good. [emoji108]

We ended up going to Whiskey Cake today - I highly recommend it. Very cool, awesome food, service was fantastic and great drinks, as well. Some pics:

Jalapeno cheddar drop biscuits with sausage gravy. I think the gravy had some chipotle or something in it. A nice flavor, but not hot at all, neither were the biscuits.

The B.E.L.T. - with an egg and fried green tomatoes:

Chikkin & waffles - came with more of that excellent gravy, as well as 2 sunny side up eggs (or however you want them), but The Boy did not want those.

And my burger - the O.M.G. Burger.

Those are fresh, house made chips, and they were very good.

Drinks (you can see mine above, the Pocket Full of Gold, had 2 of those. :D )

And the whiskey cake - damn, I didn't get a picture. That cake is AWESOME. I mean, incredible! And I ordered coffee with it and they brought me out my own stainless steel French press. Very good. Very cool place.

Will definitely return!

All the food is good, the drinks are great, and yes the damn whiskey cake. My wife ordered one to take to the lake this year for my B-Day. Damn it was good.

Chae is really good! Their bibimbap is great. Never been for brunch, but I should make it that way.

Yes, we go there quite often. I haven’t tried the ginger flower spritz yet, but agree on the bibimbap. The Sunday Brunch thing just started, I think it’s going to be a huge hit. The Chef on Sunday’s is a fellow named Voung Nguyen, formerly of Guernsey Park and Bonjour. He could fry up some cardboard and a handful of leaves and make it taste good!

Hit Chae for dinner awhile back. Not bad but I prefer traditional Korean table cook style with all the sides.

Discovered a place yesterday that I’d like to try for brunch. Off the Hook seafood on Meridian. Chicken and waffles, hash browns, 2 fried eggs, bacon or sausage!
