They were not that popular around here back in the day. $4300 back then was a bunch of money.

My first car was a new 1968 Road Runner with 383 engine and 4-speed,,,
I paid cash for it @ 2,810.00 in November of 1967.

$4,300 was a lot of money but that's not the reason they didn't sell well,,,
They were friggin ugly is why.

Even my die-hard Mopar buddies thought they were ugly,,,
That bullet nose-cone was the error in design.

My first muscle car was a used 66 Ford GT-390 with NASCAR heads that had a new price of something over $4000 that I bought in the mid 70's after it had been restored with new chrome and metal flake paint by the previous owner. It was a screamer, but drove it into the ground. The frame was cracking around the rear axle, engine needed rebuilt, and so on. Sold it to a cousin for $500.
They are worth 6 figures in the classic car market now.
Didn't have any place to store it and needed the $500 for a replacement vehicle.
Guy that changes my oil, has a 66 but it's sporting the 427.

For the time they were extremely ugly, the cheese slicer was out of place as well. All fit what they were actually built for, just not a car most folks wanted to buy and drive.

My dream car

If I ever win the lottery
There's a shop here in my town converting Challengers into mock Superbee's, they look pretty cool but not really like a Superbee. I noticed he's bought some DodgeChargers, I'm curious what kits they make for those?

Saw a mock Superbird made from a Challenger in Dewey a few weeks ago on the way to Kansas. Looks kind of funny - too short and stubby, but I'll give them an "A" for effort.
