Niche? Best 9mm carry gun in the world.
Low capacity? If nine headshots don't get you out of a jam, reload. The accuracy of the P7 is unquestioned.
Difficult to carry? I'll admit you need a fine holster (read: expensive leather) to CCW one. One of the slimest full size guns made, and slick-sided to boot. Carries like a dream in a VM II, a CQC/S, or a ISP-LP.
Heavy? See the above about holster selection.
Reliable? Again, take the P7 challenge--take the extractor completely out of YOUR gun and try to shoot it.
Overpriced? Well, yeah, it'll take $1000-$1200 to buy a PSP these days, and, yes, you can buy two lesser pistols for that kind of money, but you do get what you pay for with the P7. They are still selling for double their original retail price, when and if you can find one for sale.
Does everyone who has ever had one, love one? Well, as someone once said, find the most beautiful woman in the world, then remind yourself that there is at least one man who roundly hates her guts.

Good analogy...(makes me think of previous wife) .

I have owned several over the years. I own five now, P7M8, P7M13, and 3 P7K3 in .380. All are new in the box except one K3.

I loved them, but I had a lot of difficulty finding holsters. They K3 worked very well with the "hot" Fiocchi ammo. Rumor is the buffers (whiuch are different from the other P7s go bad, but I haven't had that happen).

Holsters for the P7 are best ordered from makers like Milt Sparks (the Versa Max II), Lou Alessi (the CQC/S), or (the acknowledged master) Matt Del Fatti (ISP-LP, ISP-4, LP-HTL). Few holster makers understand how to make a holster to acommodate the unusual shape and balance of the P7, but those listed above do, along with Tim Thurner at TT Gunleather. Off the shelf, "fits-all" holsters simply won't do the job of carrying the P7.

I've had a very good experience with a Comp-Tac holster. A P7 is my daily carry in one. I would like an Alessi though, just because they are so amazingly well made.

I have all the holsters listed above except the ISP-4. All are fine holsters. I'm currently using the Alessi CQC/S, and it is a wonderful OWB holster. In warmer months, I like the VM II as a carry holster. You can't go wrong with either maker (Sparks or Alessi).

Well said.

Silly challenge to ask people to take their extractor out of a non piston weapon. LOL!
Why is that? If you divide malfunctions into feeding malfunctions and extraction/ejection malfunctions, then someone designs a pistol (the P7) that will extract and eject WITHOUT an extractor, you then have a very reliable weapon. My gun can function without an extractor. Can yours? My gun will function with a broken extractor hook. Can yours? My gun will function with a weak extractor spring--or with no extractor spring. Can yours? Do you see my point? Extraction issues are quite common, even among allegedly reliable guns. The P7 has no such issues.
