Tasco Reddot. Had it a while.

Hello.
Had this Reddot a long time & have had it put up for several years. Got it out today & the housing is sticky & leaves black marks on my hands when I touch it. What's happened?

Plastic or rubber coating is rotting.

Did the battery leak?

Found the fix on another site. used rubber gloves, alcohol & a rag. Cleaned it up nicely.
