I’ve moved into a pseudo IT Finance group. These few select folks are accounting and finance professionals with a tech focus background. Some are CPAs and we have our own IT support. These 2 IT guys are Indian, but I’m unsure of their citizenship status cause I’ve not asked. But they are top tier professionals.
If someone doesn’t understand why, say Indians, aren’t let go first.
Here’s an example. To get a perspective of the company I work for, it currently has a $39 Billion market capitalization. And the IT department is the largest group in the company.
I requested an email address be added to my outlook to send out an email, without my name associated, to the executives, as in the CEO and his direct reports. I went through the normal company IT BS to make the request. I filled out the form, my director approved it and the request went to the black hole called IT. 3 weeks later I had to track down the status and whose desk it was sitting. I contacted that person and their supervisor and still didn’t get a response, my director got involved and still nothing. My director told me to ask one of our IT direct support coworkers. Our IT guy told me he would have it that afternoon and bam, there it was. The next day, the IT department tech called me and told me all I had to do was chose the new email address from the “from” option on the email. No **** sherlock I thought. He had no idea that I did a work around to get the address added to my outlook account.
Here’s another sign of the times. These companies think the public is stupid. They are “shutting it down because it didn’t have enough impact”. What a crock.

In 2013, we launched AmazonSmile to make it easier for customers to support their favorite charities. However, after almost a decade, the program has not grown to create the impact that we had originally hoped. With so many eligible organizations—more than 1 million globally—our ability to have an impact was often spread too thin.
We are writing to let you know that we plan to wind down AmazonSmile by February 20, 2023. We will continue to pursue and invest in other areas where we’ve seen we can make meaningful change—from building affordable housing to providing access to computer science education for students in underserved communities to using our logistics infrastructure and technology to assist broad communities impacted by natural disasters.
To help charities that have been a part of the AmazonSmile program with this transition, we will be providing them with a one-time donation equivalent to three months of what they earned in 2022 through the program, and they will also be able to accrue additional donations until the program officially closes in February. Once AmazonSmile closes, charities will still be able to seek support from Amazon customers by creating their own wish lists.
