An Estill Springs, Tenn., man is free on a $125,000 bond after firing a shotgun at teens who were rolling their principal's yard with toilet paper, reports the Chattanooga Times Free Press.

Franklin County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sgt. Chris Guess said suspect Dale Bryant Farris, 65, fired at least two shots, with pellets striking the teenager in the right foot, inner left knee, right palm, right thigh and right side of his torso above the waistline.

I'm pretty sure they are both lucky he didn't aim higher. I wouldn't think that TPing a yard, although it may be considered vandalism, is a situation where deadly force is warranted. Wasn't even his property.

The world is full of people who think a little bird shot in the ass never hurt anybody. You have to calculate the range.#8 never hurt nobody. This is the pussification of the American male. Shoot a kid in the ass. You'll make a man out of him.
#8 in the torso is problematic, but we'll worry about that later.

TP'ing yards is pretty commonplace, and administering a possible death penalty for throwing paper in a tree is about as stupid as you can get.

Many years ago, two of my daughters best male friends TP'ed our yard, and while it's annoying, I cannot even BEGIN to imagine condoning one of my neighbor's shooting at them for that.

My grandpa had some #8 in his foot since he was a kid. Turning over outhouses on Halloween, early 1920s. Nobody went to jail, lesson learned. I never heard him whine about how unfair it was, or how someone overreacted.
