My grandpa had some #8 in his foot since he was a kid. Turning over outhouses on Halloween, early 1920s. Nobody went to jail, lesson learned. I never heard him whine about how unfair it was, or how someone overreacted.

Suppose they decide to use a rifle to administer a lesson, or was so close to your grandpa that it did more damage?

I guess I'm just not a fan of shooting kids for common pranks.

Yeah, maybe a good ol Joe Biden shoot the shotgun in the air(I prefer at the ground so you can be sure of where it landed) would have been more appropriate.

Firing at the kids should be punished. Level of punishment depends on how the shooter answers certain questions.

Years ago I was on a forum where a member was going to shoot some kids for pushing over his birdbath in his front yard.

I told him to move the birdbath to his fenced in backyard.

Could you imagine the legal fees he'd pay to have to defend himself, prior to being imprisoned?

Clearly this would have warranted firing a .50 caliber weapon to disable the vehicle followed by a rapid assault to their flank.

The fact that it was his neighbors yard, and no threat to him, means he needs to get raked over the coals.

Kids shouldn't have been TPing the yard but it's not a shootable offense. Maybe just a swift kick in the ass.

Or just call your neighbor and say, "Hey, your yard is being TP'ed," and let them deal with it.

I'm pretty sure that if someone called me and said, "Hey, I'm going to fire a gun into your yard at some people who are TP'ing you," I'd tell them "No thanks."
