A good friend of mine does RC. His training helo has tennis balls on the 4 large legs that help contol the landing. Don't start with an expensive helo, get $100 junker and play first!

After reading this thread last night I got sucked into the YouTube vortex and spent quite awhile checking out RC videos. Checkout the one where the guy has both engines flame out on a A10 model.

That was hilarious. We have a couple small indoor helicopters that are fun and easy (with practice) to fly. One day while hovering over one of the cats she decided she was tired of helicopter toy time and reached up swatting the chopper out of the sky lol. Everyone survived so it's ok. We also have a large outdoor electric helicopter almost as big as the one in the OP's video. It's much bigger than our little ones but flies about the same. My bff can fly it pretty well for us novices. I also have a slightly smaller helicopter that's much harder to fly since it's not auto-stabilized. That one is still in the box new waiting for it's first real flight.

Buy a couple of the good mini choppers and fly them around the house its a blast and a lot more fun than what they cost.
