Mild temps, no wind, prediction of rain for tomorrow and school is out.

Go get 13 yo grandson and range day!!!!

I am exhausted. He has been complaining of his scope being off. Missed a huge hog, during the youth hunt. Shot 2' high. Shooting a Handy Rifle in .243 with a 3-9x40 Tasco.
Today, 5 for 5 on a 6" gong. He then said, he was nervous and excited when that hog stepped out.

I shot .30-06 Rem 742 and 7400. There are those that bad mouth the 742 or all Rem semis. These run like a Swiss watch and I have always been a fan.

Rifle fun out of the way, ran 150 flawless rounds through a Rock Island CZ75 clone 9mm. This is a great EDC. Grandson ran another 3 mags and was disappointed when we ran out of ammo.
I'm a 1911 .45 , this is my 1st and only 9mm. I do like it.

Moving on, an old S&W Highway Patrol .357. I have a ball shooting this revolver. Grandson shot 50 rounds of .38 wad cutters. The trigger is like glass and a S&W is just pure joy. Stepping down to little brother. The highlight of our day, a S&W M30, .32 S&W Long. Pure pleasure.
When grandson got it, I was afraid I wouldn't get it back. He didn't quit, until the ammo ran out.

His #1 favorite, anytime we hit the range, is the Ruger Single Six. Today, I brought along a pair of Super Blackhawk stainless .44 mag, so the stainless Single Six "little brother" was grandson's "main" pew pew. Luckily, I brought a 555 bulk pack and he didn't run out.

This is the funnest day I have had in way to long a time.

Unfortunately, the Duncan range is next to the lake. I have no idea how we ended up out there, but all was lost.

Awesome time with kids at the range!
I also went to the range, I spent about 5 hours there!
I saw two or 3 families at the range yesterday with a bunch of kids. Lots of smiles!
Hey what ammo are you using in the 742/7400?

My load, developed in 1975, 52.5 gr 4064, Win LRP, 150 gr Sierra SP in Federal brass.

The factory, red box Federals would shoot 3" - 4" groups. I was getting frustrated at "my shooting".

A teacher friend taught me to reload, we worked up a ladder and when tested, I managed 3 groups of 5 shots @ 100 yards of 5/8".

Haven't shot any other load since then.
Over 1000 rounds and see no reason to change.
