Just another reason to never go to Bethany.

What kind of stuff were you told?
Another reason? What other reason(s) do you have?

What I was told was similar to the review left by one person who left. Lot's of isolation

"The pastor continues to stray further and further from Biblical truth and due to the cult-like culture of the church the congregation continues to become more and more isolated. The pastor lacks any sort of accountability and therefore tends to stray further and further from sound theology. His heresies cover things like teaching the earth is flat accoring to scripture and claims about when the world will end. (2021 apparently) There is a complete lack of true Biblical love and compassion and an extremely antagonistic perspective when it comes to fellow Christians who don’t attend their church. They expect isolation, so if you buy into their system you will be required to limit contact with your family and any friends who don’t attend the church. The Bible isn’t taught here so if you are looking for a church in Bethany, look someplace else."

In 1970, I married a Navy Girl from Oklahoma who was a Hospital Corpswave. I came from NY and she came from a Farming/Ranching family. We’re still together. I was 23 and she was 19. Neither of us had been married before. We lived in NYC from 1971to 1977 and she liked it; I didn’t. We moved to a place in rural Pittsburg County in 1977 and stayed there until 2020 when we moved to a rural property in S.E. Alabama. The country people here are almost indistinguishable from those in Oklahoma. We still own the 40 acre property and our old home in Pittsburg Count and our troubled 48 y.o. stays there with us paying the taxes, electric, propane, trash removal and insurance. We must be crazy…..

Where they bust the sod in South Tulsa County.
...but we didn't see much of each other. When we both ended up on day shift I was afraid we'd kill each other. (we are both a bit aggressive, controlling, independent types)...
Kathy and I just celebrated 32 years. Half of it I had a traveling, out of town, overnight stay job. Most years my employer restricted travel after Thanksgiving to save money. About mid-December she'd start asking if I had any out of town jobs to attend to; ah, marital bliss...

IDK - my first wife was Catholic and her parents pretty near disowned her for marrying a non-Catholic. Refused to come to the wedding, refused to let her little brothers come also. Absolute nuts.
Yeah was the first thought of course, but figured we could mix it up and go methodist this time..
