I used to be great with open sights. But, age and astigmatism has me where I can focus on the sights, or the target but not both. I have never used a red dot, but scopes are mandatory for shots longer than 25 yards at a rabbit, and 100 at a deer anymore. Thankfully, I can still see a blur enough for wingshooting to be moderately effective but nowhere like I used to be.

My double vision isn't really double vision. If I look at a star at night, I can see 7 stars with my left eye and 9 stars with my right eye. So if I went bird hunting again, I would have multiple targets. But I guess the multiple 7 1/2s leaving the barrels would make up for that.
