This reminds me of our volunteer work in Oregon at a retreat and reunion center near Grants Pass. There are two gates to the property, and one of those is always closed and locked if there are no guests on the property. Yet, people would driving in through the other gate just to look around at the two lodges, and the pond deck and kitchen. When informed that they shouldn't be there, they always answered, "Well, the gate was open."

I finally got to telling them that the very fact that there was a gate that they passed through should have told them that it was private property and that they were trespassing.
