Exactly. One could do a little job and bring the bottle back. It went a long way toward employer/employee relations.
I did get a ringside seat when a friend of mine was moving an Oxygen bottle we just had delivered at the Ag shop in high school.
He was holding the top and tilting the bottle kicking it with his foot like he saw the delivery guy do. Quite an education when he dropped it watching that bottle go through a concrete block wall then plow a furrow like a torpedo 300 feet finally lodging in the baseball diamond backstop.

seems every supplier does it a bit different .. some require paperwork.
that's why I've been repeating importance of purchasing bottles with Airgas label. then it doesn't matter who's name is embossed on neck ring. seems airgas purchased a buttload of old time suppliers and rights to their bottles. any bottle that's been filled by airgas will be a no fuss swap.
that is if you have an airgas closeby. if one is located in the boonies, then you have no choice but to go with whom ever supplier is nearby.
Every shop I've dealt with has the bottles marked on the ring at the neck. Owner tanks are serialized. Rental tanks are serialized with an R in the number. The only issue I've run into out here is Airgas refused to fill my huge oxygen tank because they say nobody owns them anymore. Oh well, scrap it is. A shame too. It's passed every pressure test since it was created in Germany back in the 20s. It even had Nazi proof marks on it.

I pretty much stink in all kinds of welding. But for me, TIG especially is a lot like golf. Watch a pro golfer and you think 'that looks pretty easy, I could probably do that'. Only to find out it's slightly more difficult than it looks. Same with TIG.

Well you’ll become a professional tungsten sharpener that way. I once knew a guy that I spent a bunch of time with gathering and catching cattle. He often said, “I don’t rope very well but I can sure rebuild a loop fast and if I keep throwing the loop I’ll catch one eventually”
I just got these tungstens delivered. There’s a guy or two I watch on YouTube’s that say this is the miracle tungsten that does everything good. I was using 2% thoriated for everything before.
If a person wanted to learn how to weld and was just starting out, what would be the best platform: Mig, tig, arc, or what?
