I have an 820 that was my Grandpas. The choke was cranked down tight for so long that it is loose anywhere before modified. I have thought about doing pretty much what you are talking about with yours. The bayonet lug is the spendy part, the ones I found were $200. I may just cut it to 20 and make it a handy usable gun.

Just trying to figure out the sights if I cut the choke off.

Back in the day, those chokes were the "in" thing and you HAD to have one or you'd be laughed off the field.

That said, there will never, ever, ever be any desire to have a gun with one on still.

Cut it and make it something cool.
