That may be very well true, but the link also serves as a counterpoint to those that want to make ground zero into something it isn't.

And to make another point. Not all of those who lost someone at ground zero feel that the mosque shouldn't be there.

There is no clear right or wrong or unanimous decision when it comes to this issue. As i said earlier, the OP's suggestion for other buildings around the mosque would certainly fit right in with the neighborhood.

Once again, within the context, the mosque is offensive to the majority. The WTC towers were not attacked by nutjobs claiming religious jihad for strippers, cheeseburgers or t-shirts. I'm pretty sure that those who are not offended by the proposed mosque site, would also not be offended if it went somewhere else.

Your position has merit if one assumes that we are at war with the religious aspect of the nutjobs. As has been argued here many times recently, you can find a lot of nutjobs who take their crazy too far in the name of religion.

I am sure i'll get attacked for this, but I don't believe we are at war with islam and therefore i don't see why a religious facility is any more offensive than a betting facilities or strip clubs (which, by the way, i have no problem with either).

My point is that, if you say it's 'hallowed ground' then it should be sacred many of those other businesses should not be there. When comparing 'hallowed ground', you wouldn't build a mcdonalds at gettysberg or alrington, so why is one fine at ground zero?

Oh, and as i have always said, i consider the mosque in bad taste, but its still within their rights.

We're not at war with Islam because we'd have no idea how to be at war with a religion. Make no mistake though, those who declared war on us are using religious ideology as their pretext for war. We will never win this war because we cannot come to terms with why it was thrust upon us, nor can we figure out how to diffuse their justification for it.

Quite frankly, we're failing at Sun Tzu 101. :(

My apologies if this was previously posted, I just got it in an email:

If it is true that the idea of a mosque near Ground Zero is to promote tolerance:

It has been suggested that a gay nightclub be opened next door to the mosque.

Two names proposed for the club are;"The Turban Cowboy" & "You Mecca Me Hot".

A life size statue of Mohammed will be prominently displayed in front of the bar.

On the other side should be a butcher shop specializing in pork.

Across the street, a store that sells and displays ladies lingerie and bikinis on live models adding a sex shoppe would be a possibility as well as a pornographic book store. This would all be legal according to zoning.

And for all of you real Marine, Army, Navy, Air Force types- how about a recruiting headquarters across the street?

Now go forth and promote tolerance.

That' awesome I'm all for it.
