Buying a 12-gauge for my son and have been hearing that the Turkish made Tristar is a quality gun and reasonable price. Does anyone have any experience with this shotgun or heard anything positive or negative?

Just take under advisement that you probably won't find any replacement or aftermarket parts for it like you could for a Rem 1100 or 1187.

Like a lot of the smaller foreign importers they will drop it or go out of business in a few years just about the time it breaks.

The 1100 has been around for almost 50 years, is a proven design, and you can buy lots of add-ons for it.

If the gun is like only $200 bucks -take a chance +go for it- if it's $400+ buy a Remington.
