TSA to allow small knives on planes

Why are they allowing knives? I'd like to know their thinking??

my understanding is that this brings US policy in line with international rules. People coming from other countries could carry small knives, but if they disembarked to go through customs on US soil, then tried to re-board to continue onto another destination, they'd have issues because they were carrying a knife with no way of getting putting it in a checked bag.

I think its great. I fly and carry-on quite often. I always need a knife on vacation so I end up buying a cheap one whereever I end up.

The story is a little bit inaccurate. What it should says is "TSA to continue to allow small knives on planes, but this time on purpose."
