I have a 2002 civic that needs the belt changed as well.
Thanks for the info. The engine has a lot of miles on it and I suspect the belt has been done once before but without knowing for sure I want to get it done.
I'm not sure if mine has ever been done. The weirdo that owned it before me didnt know.
Great timing on this info, just the wrong location. Anyone have a recommendation for the Downtown OKC area or OKC area? Timing belts or just general service recommendations?

I totally understand being able to do a job but not wanting to do it. ( I changed a timing chain on a girlfriends Honda once about 15 years ago, wasnt a bad job but it was in a parking lot at her work and that sucked). I try to do most of the basic mainienance and repairs for our family vehicles and most if not all of the mods on my hotrods and 4x4s, only problem is I have a few basic common limitations that probably alot of DIY'rs have to deal with. I only have 1/4 of a 2 car garage to store my tools and gear with no place inside the garage to work on a car because we have too much stuff out there, alot of which is mine, and then I only get to use one side of a 4 space driveway. The main problem though is I dont have a lift and alot of specialized tools and equipment that a well equiped shop can justify to own that I cant. So when I have something I either dont want to do myself or its something I can't then I farm it out to a friends shop. I am contemplating building a small shop on our 3 lot sized property and equiping it to work on my projects.
Ive been taking both of my foreign and domestic vehicles to a guy who runs a small one man shop in BA. He can work on pretty much anything- foreign and domestic. His work and speed getting to my vehicles and getting them back to me has been stellar. He also not only does only what needs to be done but he lets me know about other stuff if he sees it even when he knows I can usually do myself. Good guy and I trust him.

I wonder if any of the above mentioned mechanics will change the timing belt on a Toyota?
me and my "brother" may be willing to knock this out - or just him. I'll text him tomorrow - Hondas are insanely easy especially pre 01s
