Veggie, I appreciate the info but is there supposed to be something within this that is surprising? It's pretty much been this way in both cities since I remember, even as a kid.

Here is an interesting fact. Coweta had segregated schools up until around 1996. The black community lived in what s known as Redbird which is in Coweta school district. However, there were different Elementries and middle schools that fell with the boundries. this kept the kids segregated until HS. Finally somebody made a big stink about it and forced them to integrate. Neither population made a big deal about it until the PC people decided what was best for everybody. The school district had to comply even though it wasnt what everybody wanted.

Go to Flixr and look at the Chicago race pic if you want to see segregation. With a large hispanic and asian community the delineations are drastic. I agree with the post about wanting to live amongst like individuals. It's not necessarily about being racist as it is identifying with people of similar backgrounds. There isn't a level of segregation where people are forced either by law or peer pressure. It's just 'birds of a feather...'.

I cant find a map key that distinguishes what color dot mens what race. If I did this map it would have black, white , yellow, red, and light brown dots to just clarify things.

North Tulsa is almost like a different town that SE Tulsa seems to nearly forget is out there.

How could they forget? That area makes the news nearly every day with some sort of violent crime.

I've never understood why the government/do-gooders insist on forcing people to integrate; humans will naturally by race, ethnicity, or even religion, segregate themselves - there's nothing wrong with it. Let people be comfortable living the way they want to live, and stop trying to force people to "mingle". They'll do that on their own terms.

The whole map thing is confusing to me, as none of the dots are hyphenated.
