Well, Israel has been able to, at least partially, control the flow of larger weapons coming in to their immediate area. Now, there's no stopping the bad guys from placing BIG, NASTY weapons right on the doorstep. When war does come, Israel defending itself the way it did in 1967 and 1973 is not as likely to happen this time. Or, one could say, "boys, 'is here's gone be a big'un!"
Kinda hard to have a country inside a country. Look at the former states of the USSR, they formed their own old nations.
Israel has every right to exist. I am a 100% in favor of that. However, the tactics they have used against the Palestinians in a lot of instances have been absolutely horrible. Bulldozing the homes of family members of suspected terrorists is deplorable. Innocent women and children should not suffer for the suspected crimes of their relatives.
That said, I believe the Israelis have shown a good deal of restraint in many, many instances. I, personally, would be looking for greater payback if my friends and family were being blown into a bloody gore at schools, day cares, and markets.

I think sometimes we don't realize the sheer volume of rockets that Hamas sends into indiscriminate targets in Israel. That 1500 number was over 12 days (Nov. 14-22).
