This does not surprise me at all. My youngest son got into a fight at school (another, able-bodied kid was trying to throw a disabled kid down the stairs and my son intervened). The principal was gonna suspend him for "fighting" and have the police come and take an assault report because, and I quote "it doesn't matter who started it or why. He should have walked away." I made three phone calls ... one to the kid's parents who was trying to throw the kid down the stairs; one to the parents of the kid who was about to get thrown and one to an attorney I knew who had done some work for the school board. Bottom line was my son didn't get suspended but I had to burn 3 days of vacation time taking care of a mess that should never had been in the first place.

I am so glad I do not have little ones now ...

There is no common sense in the school system. Between political correctness, liberal idiots running the schools and the feminization of the males in schools, it's never going to get any better.

Hats off to anyone that takes risks to protect someone else.

Thats crazy! So if I see a kid with a gun at my school about to shoot someone, and have a chance to disarm him, I should not do it!? I dont care if they expel me I would still try.

This story can't be true... it's against the rules to have a gun on the bus so there is just no way that could happen.

WOW couldn't have said it better. Though I would use emasculate instead of feminization.

This is merely one reason why I don't want my daughter going to public school.

Insert "I don't want to live on this planet anymore meme" here.

Wow, assuming this is the whole story, that's shameful. It sounds like the school administrators need to be replaced instead of suspending a student for being a hero. Our school system needs less politicians and more teachers in charge. It's a damn shame school board positions are seen as stepping stones for a budding political career instead of a group of parents and teachers who care about the students.

Has anyone researched this, God in Heaven this can't be true.

Yes, I have. It's the policy of the school district to give an "emergency suspension" any student(s) involved in a firearm incident. After the investigation results are given to the school board they will resend the suspension, remove it from his record and allow him to make up the missed work so that his grades do not suffer. And most likely the kid will be given some type of pat on the back. It's really not a big deal. But, once Beck put it on The Blaze....
