I think you gotta be able to make a living from a sport for you to be considered professional.

Some of those in the upper tiers can (and possibly do). (360 sprints, maybe the mods)

It could be reasonably argued that if the participants of a sporting event are being compensated even if they just show up, it's professional since part of their income is derived from participating in those events.

I guess 3gun pro matches are illegal in OK then.
:)

Just for the spectators. Since the event involves firearms, the participants and staff may possess, carry, and use firearms, but it's pretty clear that the spectators cannot.

Now... whether or not that is actually enforced... remember, we have "officer discretion" and "DA discretion", and you can always ask for a jury trial to get some "jury nullification"...

Still wondering about this...
I just know that if I were to call the Speedway, their answer would be a resounding "no, you can't bring a gun here!"

I know that they do host "professional" races from time to time, but your average race on Saturday night is usually run with anybody that has enough money to pour into a car that meets the req's. In other words, if I could afford to, I could race...and I'm a LOOOONG way from a professional. haha

To make it more complicated, does BATFE's position that USPSA, etc. do not constitute a "sporting purpose" bear any weight on the answer?

If I stood accused, I'd be sure to at least touch on the idea.
