Unlike Sen. Coburn, SAF/CCRKBA seems to have ACTUALLY sold out

Sorry mons meg. IMHO Coburn sold us out. There's no logical reason for his "aye" vote other than a sell-out for the purpose of advancing his career after he leaves office. :(

That position pre-supposes all those other Senators are "sellouts" as well. Also, there are plenty of reasons to move the debate along. Coburn himself says he opposes the amendment, but wants Senators to vote on it.

From what I'm seeing here and in other sources, it looks like SAF has managed to get some pro-gun points added (I've seen national CCW reciprocity mentioned elsewhere), and apparently thinks that if passage of the anti-gun bits is inevitable, the trade-off is more than fair in the balance. I'm not saying I agree--that's how we got the NFA registry closed with FOPA '86--but it's not a complete sellout position so much as a pragmatic "at least get something in exchange for our losses" position.

My concern with that strategy is that it makes it more likely that House members who would join us in opposing the bill may now find it more acceptable on the grounds that it gives us something in exchange for our losses.

I guess my issue here is SAF's position is "weaker" than Coburn's position. Yet we have many folks on this board who are all fired up about Coburn for a cloture vote, when he said he opposes the actual bill. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) voted for cloture as well, and he's as Tea Party/libertarian as Rand Paul, if not more so. So is Flake selling out, too? I hardly think so.

Well crap. Now who should I put in my signature line. Guess I'll go back to GOA.

Does anyone know of the Jews for guns group? I think I might promote them as well.

As I keep saying, I want to see the ACTUAL bill, not what people think it says or want it to say. I don't trust ANY of them anymore and nothing short of a full reading will tell me what's actually in it. This "new" method of voting on bills that haven't even been read is reprehensible. :(

To quote the former Speaker of the House, "We have to pass it to see what's in it!"

I flew to New York with Senator Coburn this morning. I tried to speak with him regarding 2A rights and he said "You can email my office for my response."

He no longer represents the people's business, if he ever did. He's too hard at work securing Coburn's business.

“The bill bans any federal gun registry and carries a 15 year prison term for anyone who violates it.” He explained."
yea and when has any federal agent EVER served 15 years in prison ? For anything?

Yep, laws only matter if the administration is willing to enforce them. This one definitely isn't.
