And that is what most people would guess. And that would be incorrect. Notice the barrel profile.
OK after a little research (cheating) I'm guessing a Model 14-2. The "Dayton" models were a hybrid Model 14 shortened barrel with a Model 15 Baughman front sight.

This may be an opportunity to advertise. I'm not sure how unusual or rare but are somewhat limited and therefore probably not very common.
I have 2 of the John Ross 500 S&W Performance Center models, both in the silver-colored finish.
The JR models were limited production, 5" non-comped barrels, with 500 in silver and 500 in black.
What I'm thinking is swapping a silver for a black version, preferably with numbers matching the silver I keep, either 129 or 131 (almost consecutive).
Therefore, if you have a black JR 500, if you would please, check if #129 or 131. If so, and willing to trade, contact me thru this board. Mine are unfired, LNIB, w/pouches, etc.
