Hi,

I noticed the main house shutoff valve making some vibrating noise this morning - I can feel the vibration if I go to my laundry room which is perhaps 10 feet away and put my hands on the water valves. This happens when water is running such as the shower in the back (40 feet away), but also when I turn a closer tub on too. Seems more pronounced with hot water than cold and more running water than less. Any ideas??

Thanks,

Alan

My first thought is that they make what I believe they call "anti-hammer devices" for your plumbing. I believe these are to prevent this issue but I am no plumber just a guy that doesn't like to pay people to fix things around his house.

Given that you live in Broken Arrow I am almost certain it is a bad pressure regulator but I am not at your house so I can't do proper troubleshooting. The pressure regulator is usually right above the main water shutoff for the house. So if you have a bad regulator and you run water around the house it will chatter at the regulator which is located right above the main water shut off.
