Holy bejeezus - 50 grains of FFFg!!! that's a rifle load! You can see the pistol come apart upon firing!

The Colt Walker was designed as "saddle" gun. Until the 357 magnum came to be, it was the most powerful handgun. When you load them hot like that, the loading lever likes to fall. It has a sprung steel retainer. The next model, Dragoon, has a much better retainer, with a little latch. They still come loose with a big load.

Man, that's still impressive, my 1851 Navy looses the lever at 30gn, and 1859 Remington becomes unpleasant at 35gn (both 44cal). 50gn is simply AWESOME! What is it - 950-1000fps?
