Looking for some recommendations on a custom build. Would like to have a 22 Creedmoor rifle. Anyone recommend a good gunsmith within 100 miles of Tulsa that can do the work. Would like to use a M700 or Howa receiver. Want to keep the cost under $1000 for a barreled action.

Are you providing the barrel and action or are you wanting to purchase a barreled action for $1000 total? Just to put a couple numbers out there, barrel blank you're looking around $300, chambered and installed $300+, so you're in at least $600 for the barrel itself, that only leaves $400 for an action which will likely need to be blueprinted (especially if you're running an R700 receiver) which is going to be tough.
Do you already have an action to build off of? Also, out of curiosity, why within 100 miles of Tulsa? Are you willing to consider somebody further?

I guess I’m that guy. But why not buy a good, solid factory rifle in that caliber? Then If you ever decide you’re done with it, you’re not stuck with 4-5k rifle. Again.... I’m sure it’s just me.

I think most of us are "that guy". We dream of something super custom and then life yells at us and we follow what we always do.

Matt down at Stewart Rifles is outstanding. He worked with Surgeon Rifles for years, before starting his own gig. The work he's done for me has been spot on.
