Guess I need to learn to hunt them!

Probably one of the few times I would ever recommend a guide instead of doing it yourself. If you don't live where they winter/migrate, the chances of you knowing where the X is, and getting permission to hunt the X is next to impossible. Only drawback imo is you'll be sitting in a 30' long blind with armed folks you don't know......but the guides will get you on birds, and have taxidermy decoys to close the deal. Cranes aren't waterfowl, just migratory like doves, so use lead shot. Turkey loads work great.

Good morning again, but short of a limit. Think we killed every bird that gave us an opportunity that wasn't a pintail, other than the 3 for our limit of them. Not sure where all the wigeon and gads are.

Nice haul and good time with the kids dlbleak! We're sucking up here, so birds around, ducks or geese.
Hang in there, the boy just left for Hazleton KS for a field duck hunt. His buds called all excited and he loaded up and went. Supposedly thousands tornadoing into a field.

They're in freggin Payne county. Gadwalls galore round stillwater. No shortage of gadwalls Wigeons and ringnecks at the waterholes there. Every pond has water this year and 75% of those ponds have a dozen or so ducks on each one. If your waiting for another big push of ducks in that part of the state you'd better not. Ducks are there and looking at xmas weekend weather those water holes will be all locked in ice and every duck in the county somewhere in Texas. If you want to hunt north central Oklahoma for puddle ducks best do it before Saturday!

There are so many birds up north still, there will be at least one more push. Birds will keep some water open, breaking ice and killing birds over a 20' circle of open water is something we do multiple times a season for morning hunts. We'll hunt cut milo and corn in the evenings too, but we got to have birds come down first. Here's SD numbers from last week, tons.
