Does anyone else simmer their frankfurters or brats in dark beer before grilling? Ive been doing that for years, even converted a dozen or so people to it after they found out how I cooked their hotdogs.

And what other things do you do special when you cook either on the stove or on the outdoor grill?

Favorite recipes?

How about sharing some of that cooking skills!

I was almost afraid to open this thread.

Can't go wrong with soaking them in a good brew. I used to put them in an otmeal stout home brew I made back in the day.......

If the dog is good enough you don't need anything else. I've done it both ways and both are good but I prefer them "plain". Best hot dog I've had here in the city are the "chi-town" franks from Kamp's Meat Market. Put them on the grill and top them with mustard, raw onion and some cheese and you'll have one really awesome hot dog.

I cook mine on stove top in beer first(only used commercial beer i might try one of my home brews but id hate to waste them), then throw on the grill for a few minutes and eat hot/warm.

Some of the best brats I ever had were simmered in beer, butter, and onions. Never considered taking them out to the grill.... Bet that would be good.
