You know, I almost hate it that I have turned into such a b****, but anyone I see in the neighborhood who I don't know I make sure they know I have looked at them long enough to identify them and make sure they see the dog.
If I can get them to wave or nod I find an excuse to strike up a conversation and then make sure they know that several of the people on this block and the next block over have GSDs. I might exaggerate the number of dogs just a little bit, although 4 or 5 is really a pretty accurate count ...
I also make sure they know there are several LEOs living in this neighborhood.
It is sad, but it seems necessary to me to be very proactive when out and about these days. Some call it territorial. I say forewarned is forearmed ... and if they aren't smart enough to take the hint, well, then ... best of luck to them.
