Part of it depends on how much you want to spend:

HK P7 M8
Walther P88 (These were described as the "King of the Wonder-nines" in the late 80's and 90's. Damn awesome pistol that will hold its value)
Sig 226
Colt 1911 in 9mm (I have a Series 80 I might sell)
Walther P5 (accurate, but kinda bulky)
Walther P-38 (you can get a good deal on the "shooter variety" of these, do not shoot 9mm +p in it regularly)
Beretta 92 series

Lugers and Broomhandles are nice for collections and I have a couple of restored ones that I shoot, but I wouldn't shoot my collection pieces.
