How do law enforcement officers feel about Oathkeepers and the Declaration of Orders Oathkeepers Will NOT Obey?

"Recognizing that we each swore an oath to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and affirming that we are guardians of the Republic, of the principles in our Declaration of Independence, and of the rights of our people, we affirm and declare the following:

1. We will NOT obey any order to disarm the American people.

2. We will NOT obey any order to conduct warrantless searches of the American people, their homes, vehicles, papers, or effects – such as warrantless house-to house searches for weapons or persons.

3. We will NOT obey any order to detain American citizens as “unlawful enemy combatants” or to subject them to trial by military tribunal.

4. We will NOT obey any order to force American citizens into any form of detention camps under any pretext. OT obey orders to impose martial law or a “state of emergency” on a state, or to enter with force into a state, without the express consent and invitation of that state’s legislature and governor.

5. We will NOT obey orders to invade and subjugate any state that asserts its sovereignty and declares the national government to be in violation of the compact by which that state entered the Union.

6. We will N10. We will NOT obey any orders which infringe on the right of the people to free speech, to peaceably assemble, and to petition their government for a redress of grievances. OT obey any order to blockade American cities, thus turning them into giant concentration camps. 10. We will NOT obey any orders which infringe on the right of the people to free speech, to peaceably assemble, and to petition their government for a redress of grievances.

7. We will NOT obey any order to force American citizens into any form of detention camps under any pretext.

8. We will NOT obey orders to assist or support the use of any foreign troops on U.S. soil against the American people to “keep the peace” or to “maintain control” during any emergency, or under any other pretext. We will consider such use of foreign troops against our people to be an invasion and an act of war.

9. We will NOT obey any orders to confiscate the property of the American people, including food and other essential supplies, under any emergency pretext whatsoever.

10. We will NOT obey any orders which infringe on the right of the people to free speech, to peaceably assemble, and to petition their government for a redress of grievances."

I'm a FT employee of the Dept. of Homeland Security and volunteer reserve deputy for TCSO. I'm an Oathkeepers member and I support these affirmations of my Oath to the Constitution of The United States.

I do support however, utilizing the most peaceable means possible in every circumstance, to avoid a Constitutional crisis and direct conflict with the government. Force or threat of force should only ever be used as an absolute last resort, when all other options have been fully exhausted.

1. We will NOT obey any order to disarm the American people

The attempt to disarm the people on April 19, 1775 was the spark of open conflict in the American Revolution. That vile attempt was an act of war, and the American people fought back in justified, righteous self-defense of their natural rights. Any such order today would also be an act of war against the American people, and thus an act of treason. We will not make war on our own people, and we will not commit treason by obeying any such treasonous order.

Nor will we assist, or support any such attempt to disarm the people by other government entities, either state or federal.

Should be end of thread...

I am in agreement with the declaration.

I disagree with having an organization dedicated to keeping oaths.

I find such a group to be all hat and no saddle.

Just keep your oath; there's no need to have an organization glamorizing the fact that you are doing what you already promised to do.

My take.

Mike, I disagree. As a former member of the LE community, a vet, a soldier who saw the aftermath of Katrina (which is where the oath keepers were born), and a citizen, I find much more comfort in the idea that others are willing to publicly, and on record state that they will not violate the oath they took or the constitution. As always, your input is appreciated. But there is something special to say about someone who is willing to be listed as a man/woman who will not violate what they hold so dear.

If you took an oath, you already promised.

Promising to promise is too Bart Simpson to me.

I meant it the first time.

YMMV.

I agree with Michael on this. I stood up and took an oath as a LEO, and I am reminded of that oath every day, as it is posted in our police department. I will keep my oath, but I will not take another oath promising to keep my oath. Once should be enough.

I also don't take issue if someone wants to be a part of this organization, that is their choice.
