I believe in the most basic principle of investing: Buy low, Sell high. I believe most people lose money due to lack of research (due diligence) and lack of patience...end up buying high then panicking when the price falls and sell low...then saying "ill never do that again".

So what is low right now? I am decently invested in the stock market (about 35% of my LIQUID net worth), mostly safe, oil and gas companies which are/were surprisingly low when I bough them. I am looking for something that has more potential for upside growth even if that is accompanied with increased risk.

If I had an FFL, I would invest every dollar I could stand into AR lowers as a long term investment. I see the gun market going along just fine yet the area of the AR is incredibly cheap and considered by many to be bottomed out.

To me the stock market as a whole is extremely high. The housing market as a whole is extremely high, at least in Oklahoma. It just seems like a bad idea, to me, to presently jump into all of the usual stuff.

so, Any foreign economies that are in shambles yet still investible...foreign bonds? any general markets that are currently bottomed out? Looking for some ideas so I can buy a yacht within the next 5 years,

thanks.

Single stocks...may as well gamble in Vegas.
is what it is. Difference being that the odds are stacked against you in Vegas and towards you in the stock market...even with individual stocks.

I know you are kicking ass with your index fund and I am happy for your success. You are invited to my future yacht to help yourself to promiscuous women and white powders.

If your as well set with money as you portray, WTF are you on here asking advice from a buncha broke gun gluts?
I am not well set at all, just well interested...which is the opposite of most people who hate talking about money.

To put it all out there, i have zero debt and my total net worth is somewhere around $500k...which is nothing by todays standards. I am only 32 years old and have a lot to learn...the purpose of this thread is just that, I want to learn more.

I'd say you're in an excellent position. Here's the thing though, if you're not willing to do homework and remain nimble, then pick a fund or some ETFs. You'll likely do well. If you want to do the research and like watching the market then there are plenty of stocks to pic as well. If you're heavy in Energy stocks I'd look at diversifying into some tech at the very least. Typically I hedge my "vegas" stocks (weed, biotech) with something more stable like Apple, Home Depot, Lockheed Martin etc. Again, DD is the key.

Im pretty much just in energy and biotech. so very aggressive at this point and agree hedging with some of the big safe companies is probably a good idea...and would be the same advice given by professional traders. my hang up on that though is that companies like apple and amazon are retarded high right now, the highest in their history. The big question is how much higher will they go? Buying in right now would literally be "buying high" but looking at the charts show todays high turn into tomorrows low as they continue to break through ceilings. basically im saying I don't know.
