As Archie and Edith sang, "Those were the days!"I bought a S&W police .38 turn-in revolver at the OKC gun show in 1991 for$175.00.
The Dan Combs was acquired from an OHP Trooper several years ago. NIB, with presentation case, unfired, cylinder not turned and has some documentation with it. It's the holy grail of Oklahoma guns and it's for sale. Be ye warned, it's not cheap. PM if interested.......Dan Combs, the Man. The Legend.
A close friend use to tell me stories of training under him, and how Dan and Jelly Bryce used to get together and shoot together. That would be a sight to witness.
Edit: referring to the second picture, top left. How in the world did you acquire that, of course I know it is none of my business. No need to Answer. I would love to see all those on display in person. Thanks
The ??? model is a 681. It was a beater gun, bought it from another member and completely re-worked the entire gun. I milled the dovetail for the front sight and then cut the frame for a Cylinder and Slide rear sight. It turned out pretty good. I created a thread on it when I built it, I will try and find it and resurrect the thread.I have looked for quite a while trying to figure out the ??? model, you have below and to the right of the Combs pistol, with the dove tail or partridge front sight.
Every one I found says it has been recrowned.
I see the new Competitor series, which look ugly as all get out, silly. Even tried to pick one up at the Tin Star, could not make myself do it. It is Old School or No School for me. And I am Okay with that.
