Where the heck can I find some Zinc to do some plating?

You would think the stuff was pure gold. Does anyone know where I can get some zinc plates or rolls? I've looked everywhere.
If anyone has done nickel and zinc plating, which do you prefer and why. I doing some screws and some motorcycle parts. Want bling. Know you can do that if you sand the zinc after two or three platings but not sure.

Modern pennies are 97.5 percent zinc and 2.5 percent copper (copper-plated zinc).

Not sure anyone could sell you a small enough batch, ask shooting 4 fun if they have zinc balls anymore I think they used to

Go to Blackwell ok and dig around the old zinc smelter there.
.gov has labeled it a superfund site because of all the zinc in the soil.

Why not just go to a local tire shop and ask if they would give/sell some old used zinc wheel weights

I've got a great idea from Mac. I going to get the zinc from either melting copper pennies or from some old D cell batteries.
The zinc in a penny will just drop out when heated to 400. And with the batteries, you can melt and pour into a flat bar and the peel off the contaminants.
Got my redneck project ready to start.

Do that with plenty of ventilation. Zinc is nasty stuff.
