learning deer hunting skills takes being around someone that's killed deer
it's not all that hard but there is a learning curve on where to hunt, importance of scent, wind, etc. etc.
some folks hunt over a feeder .. it's a lot more challenging to hunt natural .. learning how to stalk, how to find natural funnels, etc. etc.

we field dress then butcher all our deer at home .. no gamey taste if deer is processed correctly. you want to cut off all the deer fat. recently started to grind deer with about 15% beef fat .. makes ground deer that one uses like regular beef hamburger.
