Which .30 cal mag?

Why get away from the 30-06? It was the king of the 1000 yard matches for many years at the National Camp Perry matches.
90 grain varmint to 220 grain Griz medicine.
The .300 win mag bumps the velocities up a couple hundred FPS for additional range.
Every mom and pop store in the US stocks 30-06.

Oh, by the way, the 30-30 is no more a brush gun than a .243. Common misconception.

I'm not really a hunter, but that's my question, as well. What are you wanting to do that .30-'06 can't?

What I was taught is that it's the rifle that makes it a brush gun, not the caliber--brush guns are generally more compact, like lever guns/carbines, and easier to carry through the brush.
