When I wear a watch

My wife bought me a Rolex for our 25th anniversary. It mostly sat on the dresser for the next 15 years. I gave it back to her and she sold it. Wasn't impressed.

Not to disparage Rolex any I saw a diamond encrusted Rolex a higher up was wearing at a leadership conference. I noticed the time was wrong by 4 hours. He said he bought that watch as a status symbol for his achievement of office in the company. He said the Rolex cost him $500,000 new. That was in the 90's. He then said the damn thing wouldn't keep time for crap and showed me the Timex he had on his other wrist. The Timex time matched my Timex time and we chuckled a bit.

Man, he got screwed. Probably not factory set and the jeweler who destroyed the thing also screwed up the movement somehow… or he just wasn’t aware you still have to give them a wind every now and again.

I’ve wanted one of these new Rail Masters since they came out in ‘17 and just never got around to it. My wife snagged this one for me for Christmas and it’s every bit as cool as I thought it was going to be!

Only watch I’ve owned that can hang without disintegrating. I tore the latch keeper off the original bracelet setting brushes on the exciter end of a gas turbine generator. That’s when I found out that this marque is an all or nothing proposition. 800 bucks for a stinking bracelet. Wore out the next bracelet. Pins started coming through the hollow links. Had this silicone band put on locally and like it way better than stock. Hopefully it’ll last me another 28 years.View attachment 336977
