If anyone needs to add quick release spring bars to a strap, but doesn't want to spend $500 on the Bergeon tool. I've found a cheaper alternative on Amazon. Time will tell how many straps it will punch before it dulls, but it's been perfectly serviceable on the two straps that I've cut so far. The stiffer the leather, the cleaner it tends to cut. The Horween strap below is about as soft as you'll get and it still cut it pretty cleanly.

The stiffer the leather the better the cut? Man, that thing should cut within 5 microns surface finish on that jacket of mine, if it doesn't explode.
I had no idea anyone was making such a tool and thought that frequent strap swappers were doomed to wear only those straps sold with QR bars installed. Thanks for the lesson in how little I know.

Wow, I wear the GED Memorial Watch and you wear the mtngunr Memorial Watch...the end is near!

In all seriousness, the only reason for the UK "NATO" strap was to prevent the watch from falling off the thinner fabric strap when putting it on or taking it off. With these HDs, not even my Seiko divers want to budge, while with the tight fit and light weight of the Garrison, I doubt a NASA centrifuge could sling the watch off the strap.

Nah, he needed a big guy to show him it worked, as he knew my straps likely came from the children's toys and games department at Macy's.
